PILANESBERG NATIONAL PARK

If you don’t have time to visit the Kruger National Park,
we offer shorter safaris to Pilanesberg, which is just over 2 hours drive from Johannesburg and also it’s malaria-free.
Pilanesberg National Park covers an area of 55,000 hectares and is situated in the North West Province in an eroded volcano which is millions of years old.
This park is unique because it is the result of one of the biggest ever game translocations with over 6,000 animals having been relocated to Pilanesberg since 1979.
There is a wide diversity of animals including “the Big Five” (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo) as well as 30 other large mammal species, 350 birds and 65 reptiles.
Should you wish to stay longer we can arrange overnight bookings according to your choice of hotel and availability. These costs are additional.
THE ELEPHANT SANCTUARY
The Elephant Sanctuary is in the scenic Magaliesberg Mountains, just 45 minutes from Johannesburg and Tshwane.
The sanctuary lies in natural indigenous bush and is home to plenty of wildlife and about 350 species of birds and 12 African elephants.
Elephant Sanctuary offers guests a comprehensive, hands-on elephant experience that enriches and informs.
Activities include touching, feeding and brushing elephants, walking with them or riding them through the bush.
Guests will leave with a new respect and admiration for the gentleness and intelligence of African elephants.
Cost of Elephant rides are not included.
Should you wish to stay overnight in the 10-bedded Indo-African lodge, where all rooms share a common wall with the elephants’ stables;
we can arrange bookings dependant on availability. Overnight costs are additional.
DE WILDT CEETAH AND WILDLIFE CENTRE
Visit this rare and endangered species breeding centre just over an hour north of Johannesburg.
Join a guided tour in an open safari vehicle to observe cheetah, wild dog, brown hyenas and vultures and many more.
Learn about the development of this centre and their rehabilitation programmes and success in releasing animals into the wild.

THE LESEDI CULTURAL VILLAGE

Lesedi is a multicultural village less than an hour’s drive north of Johannesburg.
Share the fascinating traditions and customs of five different black cultures of South Africa.
Live through their colourful traditions and let them lead you through their homesteads and enlighten you with their history, culture and legends
Meet the Basotho (from the mountain kingdom), Ndebele (known for their colourful artwork and painted homes),
the Pedi (the warm hearted nation), Xhosa (the proud people) and the Zulu (the warrior nation).
After a traditional dance show from the different cultures, an African style feast will be enjoyed in the Lesedi “Nyama Choma” restaurant.
Overnight accommodation in traditional huts with own bathroom can be arranged at Lesedi.

GOLD REEF CITY TOUR

Built as a reconstruction of the Gold Rush era, Gold Reef City was built around a mine.
Enjoy the Victorian fun fair, the miner’s house, the brewery, pubs and restaurants, as well as the stock exchange.
See molten gold being poured and take a trip down an old mine shaft. Watch tribal dancing and experience Johannesburg in the Gold Rush era.

PRETORIA CITY TOUR

Called the Jacaranda City, because of the deep blue blossoms of Jacaranda trees in early summer.
See the many historical sights of Pretoria, South Africa’s administrative capital, including the President’s Office, the Church Square, Kruger House,
Melrose House and the Voortrekker Monument as well as the Union Buildings.

SOWETO TOUR

With houses ranging from shacks to large mansions, Soweto’s diversity only adds to its character.
On one street you will find the houses of two Nobel Peace Prize winners - Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
The Baragwanath Hospital, thought to be the largest hospital in the southern hemisphere, is also located in Soweto.
See informal settlements, affluent suburbs and the Mandela House.

JOHANNESBURG CITY TOUR

Johannesburg is a cosmopolitan city of rich diversity and character.
Ascend to the 50th floor of the Carlton Centre Tower for a panoramic view from the “Top of Johannesburg”, which orientates you to the size of this vast metropolis.
Travel through Hillbrow to see The Old Fort and Constitution Hill.
The jail that held leading activists from Nelson Mandela to Mahatma Ghandi and later converted into the new Constitutional Court and Museum Africa where the history and cultures of the South African Rainbow Nation are well represented (time permitting).

APARTHEID MUSEUM

At The Apartheid Museum you can learn of the segregation experienced by millions of black and white South Africans a mere two decades ago.
Learn of the Soweto Uprising, the ANC in exile, the history of apartheid and the effects it had on millions of South Africans.

JOHANNESBURG LION PARK TOUR

The Lion Park just outside Johannesburg serves as an introduction to the wildlife of Africa.
It is home to more than 70 lions including white lions and many other carnivores such as cheetahs, wild dogs, brown and spotted hyenas, black leopards and many more.
Apart from the larger carnivores a variety of plains game species roam freely in the Lion Park’s antelope area.
Get really close to lions and experience the thrill of holding a lion cub (depending on availability).

Mai-Mai: visit a genuine African bazaar
Johannesburg’s oldest market
transports the visitor into a fascinating world of indigenous African clothing and curios.
But the main attractions are the “inyanga” (traditional doctors) and “Sangomas” (spiritual healers and traditional seers) selling their “muti” or medicinal herbs and potions that have been used for hundreds of years.
